Tiddles

This is my Nanny's cat, Tiddles. Or Sid for short. I've known him since he was a little kitten. But now he's an elder and almost blind, he's still one of the most handsome cats I've seen though, and the fattest.

Typha latifolia

Typha latiofolia, otherwise known as Great Reedmace, is found in Hillsborough Forest Park. Many were told the story of Moses in his basket of bulrushes and pitch, and it is often believed that he was surrounded by bulrushes such as the likes of the ones above. But here is an anonymous quote -  “due to graphic mistake (or possibly even a deliberate error on his part) made by the Victorian artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, who famously painted "Moses in the Bulrushes" with the child's cradle depicted amongst reedmace instead of amongst clumps of the far less spectacular-looking bulrush, several subsequent generations of children have grown up believing that the reedmace is actually called the bulrush and is a myth that perpetuates to this day....”. 

Alone

A swan has drifted away from it's peers to inspect the human disturbance on the shore. Now it looks back in realistation that it's all alone, a lonely little swan.

Drip Drop

The moisture on these luscious green leaves was worth taking a shot of, even although it seems insignificant when you're just walking by. You should always take into account all the little things that make the Earth look beautiful and interesting, if you don't then you're living in an incomplete world.

Greener on the Other Side?

Is the grass greener on the other side of the bridge? It appears so in this case.

Woven

This is ivy on a tree in the park, it ran up the entire length of the tree and thus gave the tree a bit of detail.

Lagan

The River Lagan in its raw form with no humans tampering it for their own use, that happens later down its course. However, without concrete banks to speed the channel flow, this place would often flood when there are high levels of rainfall. Those flood plains you see are fully covered with water during flooding, the whole landscape changes. This is it at normal water levels, it looks much better this way in my opinion.

Rusty Sounds

Bridge

Went for a walk, found a bridge, stood at the bank and took a shot. It was an eventful trip.

Fine and Dandy

A shot of some dandelion seeds which were dispersed early as my dad came along and kicked them. Of course my family have a lot of consideration for the environment and plant life..

Tulipped

Some tulips I found in Hillsborough Forest Park. They are in fact purple however some people have suggested that they're blue. There were some white tulips too.

Mournes

Our Geography class went to the Mournes to complete some fieldwork, we were following the course of the Rocky River and so I decided to take some shots while we were there. The day started off windy which made the walk to the source difficult, but we got there eventually and the walk back down wasn't as bad. The weather got sunnier too.

Jefferson

Meandering

Perhaps not the most focused shot, but the scenery was nice. Spring, green grass and sun shining on the calmly flowing river.

Snowdropping

Snowdrops are one of my favourite flower varieties, I think they look absolutely beautiful. I especially love the contrast between the pure white and the light green colouring along with the droopy petals.

Candlelight

Rhododendron

These flowers bloom in my Granny's garden, considering she and Grandad owned a flower nursery it's not surprising that they have a large garden with a wide variety of plant species.

Flaming

I always love relaxing by my granny's fire, especially in the winter. Grandad has a habit of stoking the fire until all the coal and logs nearly overflow, but it definitely does produce some heat.

Shaded

 

The view of the sky from my window is rather amazing sometimes. It looked like God put some effort into it.

Swanning Around

A swan swanning around, it seemed that he had assumed dominance amongst the other swans, as he kept swimming around with his wings up. Or perhaps he just wanted to show off.

Frostbite

It appears that this flower was caught in the cold frost, a flawed beauty.

Is There A Point To This?

Is there really much point in having this field? Grazing maybe? Don't think many animals would find this grass appetizing though.

Some little daffodils soaking in the sun's rays.

Just some berries relaxing in the sun. Yes, I use personification for berries.

Goose Watching

I thought it would be suitable to show my goose watching pictures all in one go, anyone would think I have an addiction to photographing these creatures. But hey, why not?

Greylag Goose

In Hillsborough Forest Park there are loads of these guys! I managed to get a few shots, I liked this one because of the feathery detail on his neck.
